Harare – Zimbabwe’s Police today requested the audience of pro-democracy activist Dr Patson Dzamara, at their Harare Central Police Station for questioning / discussions on unknown matters, just days after the prominent icon returned to the country.

Dr Dzamara who had earlier attended a bail hearing for a fellow activist Linda Masarira who has been incarcerated illegally since July 2016 remained in buyouant and defiant mood, stating that with consultation with his lawyers, he would report to the police station tommorow morning.

After his travels to the United States, police are thought to have generally believed he would not return to Zimbabwe any time soon, while Zimbabwe’s ruling party Zanu PF propagated a belief that Dr Dzamara had sought asylum in the USA, like a fellow activist Pastor Evan Mawarire.

Dr Dzamara updated the nation via his Facebook account.

It is not known why the Zimbabwean Police want him, although sources have indicated that he will be charged with economic treason – a version of Zimbabwe’s capital offense, which stipualtes that anyone who assists foreign entities in sabotaging Zimbabwe’s economic interests is guilty of economic treason and faces either the death penalty or life in prison.

Earlier last week, Dzamara handed a petition asking The World Bank not to loan Mugabe’s Government money, as that would simply assist the regime in orchestrating immense levels of violence against its civilians.
