Kwekwe – Formed by Engineer Gift Mahachi, Chirera Nherera a home based charity organisation is feeding and sending 120 orphans to school who are failing to take care of themselves in Kwekwe.
Despite the fact that Zimbabwe is in a financial dilapidated situation, the compassionate vision has survived for more 3 years “We thank God that during the country’s hardest time we have survived and managed to extend our hand to more than 120 orphans since 2013”
Unlike other Children Homes the Kwekwe based takes care of children from birth till they attain their tertiary education “We take care of children from birth until he or she graduate at university level because we believe that even though someone is over the age of 18 but still needs assistance in fees and other necessities he or she is still a child” Chirera Nherera founder said.
Recently Malawian Prophet based in South Africa, Prophet Shepherd Bushiri released an open letter to the President of Malawi after he was restricted to do his charity work in the country because the government thought maybe he has got political ambitions.
Asked on this in Zimbabwe by Panashe Makufa, Gift Mahachi said despite the country’s economic situation they are also facing tension from the government from sourcing funds in and out of the country as Non-Governmental Organisations has been eye marked as tools for promoting opposition operations in the country. “Many NGO’s are said to have been in the country to promote opposition party operations, our sourcing process is delayed because we need a lot of paperwork and approvals from relevant offices of which some standards set cannot be easily attained”
He also added that they need assistance on their work as their pockets only are not being enough to sustain and make sure the children are well taken care of “We as an organisation need to be supported financially to support these vulnerable children especially on their educational and other necessities that a child need to keep them going in their daily life”
