Mega demo planned for Harare, set to shut down Zimbabwe again

Harare – The opposition political parties are planning what could be a major blow to the failed and under fire government of President Mugabe on the 26th of this month.

NERA is a representative body of opposition political parties in Zimbabwe.

The parties revealed this in a message that is currently circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.

“Your cries have been heard. On 26 August  the National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA) is facilitating a historic mega march. The march begins at the open space behind rainbow towers at 8.00 am.

The parties are demanding among other things that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Chairperson resigns from her post.

“The mega march is meant among other demands to pressure Rita Makarau to resign as the ZEC Chairperson and concentrate her duties in the Judicial Service Commission.

“Compel ZEC to align its electoral laws in line with SADC principles. Push ZEC to align its electoral laws with the new constitution which received popular vote in the 2013 referendum,” said the parties

Parties that will be represented include Freedom Front Party, Transform Zimbabwe, ADP, PDZ, ZUNDE, People First (with Didymus Mutasa as the convenor)MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube and the MDC-T.
