The inaugural 1st Cape Town Zimbabwe Excellence Awards gala dinner ceremony was held on the 4th of April 2015 amidst pomp and fanfare. The event which was hosted by Shamstone Production and Entertainment did not disappoint and was overwhelmingly supported and was a huge success with tickets to the event sold out. This event will be held annually.
The Zimbabweans in Cape Town came in their numbers to support their own and celebrate the success of their fellow compatriots. The 1st to be held in Cape Town, the red carpet event sought to recognise and acknowledge success and the achievement of Zimbabweans based in Cape Town who have excelled in different venture such as community projects, entertainment, sports, journalism, small business as well as running and owning medium to large organisations.
The event was hosted by former big brother contestant, business woman and celebrity Pokello Nare with the assistance of MC Morgan Stitch and DJ Flex. The key note address was delivered by the guest of honour Mr Mugobogobo who is the current Consular General from the Cape Town Zimbabwe Consulate. Other invited guests included the Director of Cape Town Tourism Mr Jonathan Jacobs among notable Cape Town business leaders.
In his speech Mr Mugobogobo congratulated the winners and urged them to continue with a culture of success and to contributing to the development of Cape Town and flying the Zimbabwean flag high and most importantly remain a source of inspiration to others.
Shamstone Production and Entertainment is owned by Julius Shamu who is also the Director of the Cape Town Zimbabwe Excellence Awards. Julius Shamu is also a former Director of Miss Zimbabwe Cape Town 2013 and has several other business ventures. Some of the events he has hosted included the 2013 Miss Zimbabwe Cape Town, the 2014 Family Day Independence Celebrations as well as the 2014 Women’s Day Celebrations. Julius Shamu is also the President/CEO of the recently launched Zimbabwe South Africa Chamber of Commerce & Industry aka (Zimsacci)

The biggest award of the evening the Overall Zimbabwean Excellence Award was exclusively sponsored by Mukuru Money Transfer, was won by – Godfrey Madanhire
This award was for the for the most outstanding Zimbabwean in Cape Town who motivates and inspires others.
Most of the above winners have also demonstrated and run uplifting programmes within their projects and businesses
Cape Wolves Football Club with the guidance of Tinashe Chaterera have managed to reach out to the community in Hanover Park where they play their league games. This is a very volatile community where gangsterism and drugs is the order of the day but with soccer taking place, the community has something to look up to every weekend.
Albert Zanganembo has managed to bring and represent the Zimbabwe ghetto youths based in Cape Town. As the entertainment personality of the year, he features in almost every event and in almost every artist who come to Cape Town thereby providing the much needed entertainment.
Moreboys Munetsi’s Zororo Phumlani organisation also bring in the much needed funeral relief for the Zimbabweans in Cape Town and South Africa as whole by providing and assisting with repatriation of deceased relatives back to Zimbabwe.
Godfrey Madanhire is a motivational speaker who through his workshops has managed to change lives of many people. Godfrey has appeared in most television, magazines, newspapers, radio stations and distributes over 40 000 monthly motivational CDS to subscribers.
Edmore Mazungunye runs a community project where he looks after the kids whose parents cannot afford to send them to pre-school as well as senior citizens who cannot look after themselves.
Frank Mushakavanhu on the other hand provides much needed breaking news as a newleader who is on the forefront of disseminating information to the Zimbabweans in Cape Town. Frank dominates most social sites almost every day in keeping up to date with the latest news as it happens.
Small business of the year winner Cryson Nhamoyebonde runs a “You Drink, We Drive” business where he has over 400 subscribers who frequents, restaurants, bars and night clubs in the area of Hout Bay who have no fear in how they will get home after having a couple of drinks as Cryson and his team will take care of them.
