A taxi drive in Bulawayo has been locked up after he attacked the police officer who wanted to arrest him for parking his vehicle dangerously in the city centre.
Khulumani Ndlovu (33) of Njube in Bulawayo was not asked to plead to assault and resisting arrest charges when he appeared before Bulawayo Senior magistrate Sibongile Msipa Marondedze.
The magistrate further remanded him in custody.
The court heard that on February 22, this year at 2.30 am then police officer Nyasha Chinyama (29) was patrolling in the city when he saw Ndlovu parking his car dangerously at corner Robert Mugabe Way and 10th Avenue.
He ordered him to drive to Bulawayo Central Police Station together with him. On arrival at the police station premises, Ndlovu is alleged to have run amok and became violent head butting the police officer on the mouth.
The police officer sustained a cut on the mouth and that led to charges of resisting arrest and assault being pressed on Ndlovu.
