A BOUNCER with a Harare watering hole was left fighting for his life after two men allegedly pushed him onto a raging braai fire.
A Harare magistrate last week heard that 32 year-old Tendai Chiwetu, a driver at Hatfield primary school and his accomplice joined forces and literally tried to braai the city pub enforcer.
The bouncer was battered until he was unconscious by the pair who then lifted and placed him on the flaming hot braai resulting in severe injuries.
Chiwetu is now facing attempted murder charges and appeared before magistrate Milton Serima. His co-accused Brian Matambanadzo is reportedly on the run.
For the State, prosecutor Sharon Mashavira said the bouncer met Chiwetu and his accomplice, Matambanadzo early this month at Horita Sports bar in Mabvuku.
Chiwetu and Matambanadzo allegedly confronted the complainant who was at the gate of the bar controlling patrons and forcibly demanded to enter into the venue.
After being denied entry, Chiwetu reportedly responded by vigorously and angrily shaking a screen door at the entrance and consequently bashed the guard on the forehead.
The bouncer tumbled in a heap on the ground unconscious. It is alleged that, the two joined hands in attacking him with booted feet and fists despite the fact that he lay there unconscious.
Chiwetu and his accomplice then lifted the complainant and placed him on top of a burning braai, where he was severely burnt on his back, left hand and leg.
After their dastardly act, the two men allegedly disappeared from the scene.
The bouncer was helped by one Nyamuripa and later sought medical attention for the burns. A report was filed at Mabvuku police station, leading to Chiwetu’s arrest.
